Every child deserves an education and we can make a difference.
Kids in Kenya is a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the educational opportunities of thousands of disadvantaged children in a very poor community in Kenya. Run by a small group of committed and enthusiastic volunteers, the organisation has, over the last few years, provided basic materials such as pens and paper, and even footballs and rubber thongs.
We purchase the goods in Nairobi, and we personally deliver them to the schools in Siaya District, thereby ensuring they arrive intact, and that they reach the children most in need.
While it is intended to maintain the supply of very basic resources into the foreseeable future, it is also planned to extend the work, by improving school classrooms, building adequate library resources and raising sufficient funds to assist deserving children to go on to complete secondary education, and in some cases even attend university. We need all the help people can give us to extend this important work.

Frank Coates is one of Australia’s most formidable authors weaving exotic tales of East Africa’s real historical events with tribal and white characters.
After graduating as an engineer he worked as a telecommunications specialist and when boredom set in found his way to Kenya working for the UN. Frank’s love of East Africa developed a passion for the region’s history and culture and inspired him to write. Six books later and another soon to be published has put him on the map.
Frank is an enthusiastic sponsor of Kids in Kenya and shares our passion to help kids gain access to an education. Some of the proceeds of his novels sold at any of our functions will go towards our 2012 goal of building a library for the community in Siaya, western Kenya.

OUR GREAT DAY OUT was a raging success despite the rain which certainly didn’tstop us from having a fabulous day with almost 80 turning up for our delicious home-made curries, our very own Kids in Kenya wines, wonderful music and a great deal of good cheer.
THANKS everyone for your help to make the day an enormous success – we raised approximately $5,500 towards our library project – a joint venture of the Rotary Clubs of Drummoyne and Balmain. This is a huge boost towards assisting the kids of the Siaya District, western Kenya with their learning.
OUR IMMEDIATE AND AMBITIOUS AIM is to raise A$25,000 to build the first stage of a modest library equipped with reference sources such as dictionaries, atlases, world maps and story books.
How we plan to raise the money...
The Rotary Club of Drummoyne with the co-operation of the Rotary Club of Balmain has chosen the "Kids in Kenya's library proposal" to be their clubs' International Project for 2011-2012. This support will help us achieve our A$25,000 goal for the first stage of the project and we are enormously grateful to those clubs for their commitment and the faith they have shown in Kids in Kenya.
We need your support as well to help us achieve our initial goal – any donation, no matter how small is appreciated. Click here for details on how to donate.
NOT everyone comes away from an overseas holiday with a mission to educate an entire village but Leichhardt's Pauline Browne-Cooper did just that.
In 2004, while on safari in Kenya, Ms Browne-Cooper and her friend visited Nyadorea, the home town of their driver. While there she was faced with an image that changed her life.
